The Project Rise Adult Learning Center
Student Guidelines
The Project Rise Adult Learning Center is a community of students, teachers and office staff. We come here to work together so that every member of our community can learn, grow, and reach their goals. We are in some ways like a family- we support one another and depend on one another. The staff at the ALC does everything we can to support and encourage students, and to make our program an enjoyable, comfortable and meaningful place for students. But, like any family, like any community, our program works well only if everyone does their part to participate in a responsible and helpful way. Because of this, we have some rules and procedures that we ask all members of our community to follow. These are listed below. Please help us by reading these rules and procedures carefully, and taking them seriously during your time at the ALC. Thank you.
(1) Students are expected to attend every class.
(2) Students are expected to come to all classes on time.
(3) If, due to an emergency, you have to miss a class or several classes, you must call and leave a message for your teacher. · 347-449-7960.
(4) If you change your name, address or TELEPHONE NUMBER, please let your teacher know as soon as possible or call and / or stop by the office so that a change can be made in your file.
(5) If you miss too many classes, you may be required to have a conference with your teacher or someone in the office in order to continue in the program.
(6) If you cannot attend classes regularly, you can ask for a leave of absence.
(7) Respect for you, fellow classmates, Common courtesy and acceptable conduct are requirements for maintaining your place in this program. Students who violate this rule may be asked to leave the program.
(8) In all classes, the students are expected to work together and help one another learn.
(9) You will be asked to complete homework assignments. Doing homework consistently is an important part of your learning here.
(10) If you need a letter for your job, welfare, childcare or for some other reason please call the office or ask your teacher. We need at least two (2) days’ notice to prepare the letter
In cases of snow or other weather emergencies, there are several ways to know whether our classes will be meeting:
- If the Master’s Hand is closed, we will not be holding classes.
- If the New York City public schools are closed, we will not be having Morning Classes.
- If both the Master’s Hand and the public schools are open, we will be open. Many Local radio stations give listings of schools closing during and after a snowstorm. In addition, you can call Project Rise central number (347) 449-7960, to hear whether the Project Rise is closed. If you are still unsure, you can call email noemiross@outlook.com.
WE WELCOME YOU AND LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU HERE!!
